![]() ![]() It's a brilliant game that everyone should have a go at playing. Anna had an amusing / annoying habit of possessing bombs as well, further scuppering Laurence's Tichu plans. ![]() ![]() There were a couple of epic hands where everyone had great combinations eliciting groans and whoops of delight accordingly. It was a fun play at a leisurely pace and I really enjoyed it. Not a great ratio! (We made the 1 that I called - just thought I'd get that in there.) My fault - I guess I'm too British and was waiting my turn! I can certainly bomb the straight and then go out with my queens to save the day. So, a) Suppose a player has called Tichu and leads a large straight, and he only has 2 cards left. I should've called Tichu straight away you say, before even the Mah Jong was played - well that would probably have been correct. Tichu apparently does not, which seems to be a problem since multiple bombs can be drawn. In one hand, after passing, I had a 10 card straight, a high pair, an ace and a single low card. I tend to prefer to wait and pass a couple of hands before I play any card (and potentially make a Tichu call) especially if I don't hold the Dragon or Phoenix in the hope that opponents will have played those and I can then use my Ace(s) to win a single hand and gain control. As Laurence was sat to his left he'd often go straight in with a Tichu call. The situation was exacerbated by the running table joke of passing John the Mah Jong so that he started almost every hand. " right, I've got a couple of full-houses, and 3 odd cards if I can shed a couple of them, win a hand of singles with the ace and then splash the full houses: oh crap he's called Tichu. ![]()
